Diarrhoea is a loose and frequent evacuation of the bowels. Heavy fatty foods, improper diet, sudden fright or shock due to the death of a beloved one, or worrying too much, may cause diarrhoea.

Symptoms suggest the type of diarrhoea are:

1.Large amount of stools with little mucus suggests small bowel disease.

2.Small amount of stools with excess mucus suggests large bowel involvement.

3.Constipation alternating with diarrhoea may suggest irritable bowel syndrome or laxative habit.

4.Diarrhoea recurring after certain foods suggests allergy.

5.Watery stools usually in emotional diarrhoea, ulcerative colitis.

These symptoms should alert you to seek apt advice from your doctor; should not tempt you to arrive at a diagnosis.
