Life begins with a big bang which is the formation of a zygote, fertilized egg cell; male sperm successfully impregnating the female ovum results in the beginning of the LIFE, beginning of the pregnancy.
Another name for life is METABOLISM. As is well known, the bye-product of metabolism is generation of reactive oxygen species, (ROS), oxidative free radicals, which are highly reactive chemicals formed from O2. Our body neutralizes these oxidative free radicals by certain bioconstituents which are famously known as “antioxidants”. Body has to to keep the check on ROS which is very essential for survival and for healthy life, because production of excessive free radicals damages proteins, fatty acids and other basic structural elements of our cells, and results in organ dysfunction and diseases.
Even during pregnancy, this delicate balance between free radical generation and removal by antioxidants is critical for the growth and development of the fetus in the uterus. It is a proven fact that in early foetal life, oxidative stress changes intrauterine development which is responsible for increased risk of chronic diseases, like heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic kidney diseases, during adult life. This is called as the Barker hypothesis, also known as "small baby syndrome"!

FIGURE: Role of Antioxidants in Health and Disease
Undernutrition, malnutrition, unhealthy lifestyle behaviours and exposure to multiple human-made pollutants, during the intrauterine life, negatively affect intrauterine development and contributes to fetal origin of disease in adulthood partly due to oxidative stress.
This worrisome phase during pregnancy needs urgent attention. And therefore, antioxidants in medicinal plants are widely recommended for health promotion and disease prevention during pregnancy.
The successful outcome of pregnancy is the birth of a healthy offspring who grows into an adult with long-term scintillating health. And so for this outcome to happen, we must begin at the beginning.
SANDU’s PREG-UTERO contains the antioxidant herbs like Amalaki, Bibhitaki, Yashtimadhu, Guduchi, Ashwagandha, Bala and Brahmi etc.

Our Ancient Ayurvedic books are the richest source of health wisdom; our seers always maintained that this wisdom will remain valid eternally, it does’nt have the expiry date. This is so true for: मातुरेव पिबेत्स्तन्यं तत्परं देहवृद्धये। This simple Sanskrit line means that mother’s milk is the best for infant’s growth and development and therefore, breastfeeding should be promoted. It is as simple as that because it is the MOTHER NATURE’S gift.

And now we have the modern proof for this ancient fact. It so happened that the scientists noticed remarkably high levels of a certain molecule in infant stool samples. This particular molecule could be the key in our understanding of how gut microbes help strengthening breastfed children's immune system.

Besides, nutrients like water, carbohydrates, protiens, fats, vitamins and minerals, mother’s milk contains certain bioactives and commensal bacteria as shown in the figure. It seems that, the gut of breasfed babies do have certain microbes which contribute to the beneficial effects of mother’s milk.

The latest research reveals how gut microbes may contribute to the beneficial effects of breastfeeding. We knew  that breastfed infant’s gut harbours certain gut bacteria which are known as bifidobacteria. How do these bacteria are beneficial, that we know now. A new study has shown that the bifidobacteria, which utilize components of breastmilk to grow in the gut of infants, contain a particular enzyme. This enzyme enables the bacteria to produce small molecules that are believed to have a beneficial effect on the immune system. This research has been published in Nature Microbiology.

The studied bifidobacteria utilize certain carbohydrates (human milk oligosaccharides, HMOs) in breastmilk to grow in the gut where they transform aromatic amino acids (Proteins, which are also found in breastmilk) into aromatic lactic acids. The production of these aromatic lactic acids in the gut probably has a beneficial effect on the infants' immune system.

Bifidobacteria do play a main role during this time to digest the healthy sugars in breast milk that are important for babies’ growth. In fact, breastfedd babies do have much higher levels of these beneficial bacteria in their intestines than those who are bottle-fed. Bifidobacteria control the immune system and keep the gut wall healthy in infants, which can help prevent infections.

Besides the health effects in infants, as a bonus, mother gets following benefits of breastfeeding!

l  Breastfeeding helps mother to lose body weight after delivery.

l  It releases the hormone oxytocin, which helps  uterus return to its pre-pregnancy size and may reduce uterine bleeding after birth.

l  Breastfeeding also lowers risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

l  It may lower risk of osteoporosis, too.

l  It is indeed a bliss to enjoy the company of the baby. Bonding does happen.

l  And on a lighter note, breastfeeding helps you save time and money, no need to buy formula milk, bottles etc.

So MOTHER NATURE does teach us to live symbiotically with the MICROBIOME, right from the birth!!

14th November may be celebrated as Children’s Day in India, but Globally it has a greater significance as being World Diabetes Day. The blue circle in the logo adopted by the UN represents global diabetes awareness. ‘It signifies the importance of unity of the community globally about diabetes in response to the diabetes epidemic’- IDF (International Diabetes Federation).

We at Sandu Pharmaceuticals want to do our bit in raising awareness on this subject.

We Indians love a hearty meal, which usually leads to your full tummies & a longing for a short nap. Did you know, these frequent short naps can really shorten the quality of life you may have? You may be wondering why we are ruining the joy of your favorite day-time activity. How in the world does it relate to our agenda of raising awareness? Well!!! We have your best interest at heart.

Diabetes can be correlated with Ayurvedic diseases like Prameha, Medoroga (metabolic disorders) & Santarpaniya  Vyadhi (disorders due to overnutrition). Prameha is one of the conditions that are seen as a result of Medoroga & Santarpaniya Vyadhi, followed by disorders such as ati-sthoulyata, cardiovascular disorders, memory and intellect defects, lethargy etc. So, when taking a look at the causes for Prameha (Diabetes) we find that Divaswap or daytime napping is listed as one of them. Thus, the common denominator between all three that we can identify is Divaswap.

Ayurveda says that in prameha, unhealthy lifestyle leads to vitiation of all the dosha & dhatus which have jala mahabhuta predominance. So, there is malfunction of kapha dosha predominantly along with pitta & vata dosha. Also we find there is malfunctioning of meda dhatu (mainly) along with other 9 body tissues. The result of this is excess urination, thirst, hunger, profuse sweating etc which are the most common symptoms in diabetic patients. Divaswap vitiates all three doshas in our body. This along with other causative factors leads to various modern research says about the effects of frequent daytime napping is represented in the schematic.

Frequent day-time napping causes:

·      Increase in BMI

·      Waist circumference (central adiposity)

·      Increased fasting insulin

·      Increased cholesterol & cholesterol related lipoproteins

·      Fatigue & bodily pain

·      Disturbed sleep efficiency at night.

The stated factors are usually related to increased risk of cardiovascular & metabolic diseases. Just as we give a lot of thought when it comes to investments, similarly we must spare the same for our lifestyle. As what we do daily is ultimately an investment to our health for now & future. Haven’t we voluntarily chosen this habit of frequent day-time napping as part of our lifestyle? We know old habits die hard but correcting this is within our capability. So take this one small step towards your health & limit your daytime napping.

We ask you this, if prevention is better than cure, why wait?

Snooze your habit of snoozing for an improved healthy lifestyle, before it’s too late.

As the theme of World Diabetes Day for the year 2021-2023 is ‘Access to Diabetes Care’,

Sandu offers:

We observed PCOS awareness month in September!! As per the observations of certain groups working in the field of PCOS in India, medical practitioners more often  recommend dietary and lifestyle changes as a first response to PCOS pateints, than in the United States, but the push for prescription medication is also less likely as a first response by medical professionals in India. May be because, there is less awareness of herbal options for this condition PCOS.

Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS in short, a condition in women, is becoming increasingly common in recent times.

The complicated  name, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, can be simplified as follows:

  • Poly- means many.
  • Cyst means a bubble-like thing in the body tissue.
  • Ovary is the female organ that produces ova or eggs.
  • Syndrome means a group of signs and symptoms complained by the patient

The basic cause of PCOS is insulin resistance (IR), despite large quantities of insulin in the body, target tissues like fat resist the action of insulin. And this results in variety of signs and symptoms in PCOS.

First of all, the menstrual periods become irregular. PCOS drastically reduces fertility because the ovary fails to form ova.

In PCOS, there is a marked tendency to put on weight. The accumulated weight does not get removed easily even with a vigorous exercise programme. All in all, PCOS leads to difficulty maintaining a healthy weight.

Male hormone, Testosterone, also causes the occurence pimples and unwanted hair growth on the face. Just like teenagers and adolescents, the patient starts getting acne which does not go away easily, causing a great deal of stress for her.

How to correct all this topsy turvy? Well, it is not easy. It needs drastic life-style changes like fasting and doing physical exercise. These lifestyle measures decrease insulin resistance. Eating a balanced diet rich in green leafy vegetables which will provide you with what are called anti-oxidants. Tobacco and alcohol aggravate the hormonal imbalance so they must be avoided at all costs.

There are many herbs that Mother Nature has gifted to us. One of them is GUDAMAR, (Gymnema sylvestre) roughly translated as a “Sugar Killer”. Its constituent, Gymnemic acids, a polyphenol,  have been shown to exert antidiabetic, anti-sweetener, and anti-inflammatory activities. In the animal model of PCOS, it was demonstrated that gymnemic acids improved the menstrual cycle regularity, reduced testosterone levels and weight in PCOS rats.

SANDU offers GUDAMAR containing combination called DEBIX to take care of the hormonal imbalance in PCOS. Besides, Gudmar, DEBIX contains many other similar ingredients like Jamunbeej (Syzygium cumini), Karela (Momordica charantia), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna).

When the doctor prescribes to you DEBIX you know you are getting the best herbs in the best form. You simply take it as prescribed.

It is unfortunate but true that modern lifestyle is responsible for fall in sperm count in men. Shockingly, there are reports that even COVID-19 may induce the inflammation of testis resulting in disturbed sperm formation, decrease sperm quality in moderately infected patients, and further adversely affect male reproduction.

The average sperm count in a healthy male is between 40 to 300 million per milliliter. Counts below 10 million are considered poor. Low sperm count indicates a less chance of conceiving.

About 15% of couples experience conception problems, and this percentage is growing. According to a research study, around 1 out of 5 males in India has fertility problem.

All men can achieve a higher sperm count and improve their fertility potential. Following certain  simple ways improve sperm count naturally.

There is a reason for testicles hanging outside, it is for keeping the temperature of the testicles 1 to 2 °C lesser than the body’s temperature. At this lower temperature, sperm formation is optimum. As exposure to heat reduces sperm production, bathing in hot water or sitting for long in hot bath tub may increase the  testicles temperature resulting in suppression of sperm production. For the same reason, do not keep cell phone in your pocket, also avoid placing the laptop computer on your lap. In Ayurveda, Semen or Shukra is considered as “cool” सौम्यं शुक्रम्!!

Smoking tobacco and drinking alcohol should be avoided as they damage the sperm. Fortunately, the damage done from smoking and alcohol can easily be reversed after quitting.

It is very important to maintain your ideal weight. Eat a healthy diet which is high in protein and low in fats. Getting plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes can help boost fertility.

Exercise and Yoga further help to maintain the normal body weight and also relieves stress and anxiety, thereby boosting the fertility.

Various research studies have proven the efficacy of herbal medicines in increasing sperm count and fertility.
The following herbs have been exclusively shown to increase the sperm count and motility
         Shwet Musli
The above herbs are present in a novel herbomineral spermatogenic formulation, known as VIMFIX.

The herbs present in VIMFIX Tablets do have Rasayan and Vajeekaran properties, they enhance the level of testosterone which plays an important role in Spermatogenesis (process of sperm production). VIMFIX Tablets improve sperm count, motility and morphology and also increase semen density. Further it also minimizes the damage to the sperm cells.

VIMFIX, being testosterone enhancer, antioxidant and adaptogenic, improves sperm production and therefore, useful in male functional infertility.

Ashoka: The Ayurvedic Way to Female Fertility!

We see that Ayurveda and Ayurvedic  Medicines have been gaining global recognition  with medical professionals all over recognising its effectiveness in treating and preventing health ailments. This natural form of medicine is fast becoming the go-to solution for most individuals as ailments and health problems have seen an unprecedented rise. We are starting to realize that the global health crisis can be fought with resorting to natural solutions.

One very prevelant health problem is regarding women’s health especially, female infertility. Our modern life-style adversely affects the hypothalamus, a region of the brain, the seat of emotions, which regulates the nervous system and pituitary gland. When the hypothalamus does not communicate properly with the pituitary gland, both male and female infertility can be affected. Imbalance in the regulation of reproductive hormones by the hypothalamus or the pituitary gland or problems in the ovary can cause various menstrual and ovulation disorders. It is always preferable to treat these conditions with natural remedies because hormones do have number of side-effects.

One such natural remedy used widely in Ayurvedic treatments is Ashoka, also known as, Saraca indica. Translating to mean ‘without sorrow’, this herb offers a multitude of health benefits that can treat and prevent a variety of illnesses while boosting one’s health. It restores the the functions of hypothalamus, thus restoring HPO (Hupothalamus-Pitiutary-Ovarian) balance, a balance which is very critical in female reproductive health.

Ashoka is well-known for its beneficial effects on the female reproductive system.

Some of the important benefits of Ashoka/ Saraca indica include:

Boosts women’s health:

The properties of this herb have been used to boost women’s reproductive health since ancient times. It is known to strengthen the uterus and stimulate ovarian function. In some cases, it can also help treat infertility and be used to manage uterine problems such as endometriosis. All this is due ti its balancing effects on the hypothalamus.

Prevents diabetic complications:

An increased number of young adults are suffering from elevated levels of blood sugar and Type 2 diabetes. Not only is this condition detrimental to health in itself but can also result in a number of complications over time. The Saraca indica herb helps prevent the occurrence of this condition in the people susceptible and also manages it better if already present. The anti-oxidant properties reduce oxidative stress caused by elevated sugar levels which can further reduce the risk for diabetic complications to the heart and other organs. It also reduces the build-up of LDL cholesterol in the body reducing the risk of clogged arteries and associated ailments. And in women, diabetes  can complicate ovulation and make menstrual cycles scanty, irregular or absent.

Blood purifier:

Toxins in the blood can result in a number of problems, especially skin disorders. Blemishes, rashes and even skin allergies can be caused by toxins in the body. Ashoka works wonders as a blood purifier and helps the body get rid of unwanted toxins thereby reducing their harmful effects. Skin conditions have been known to witness a marked decrease with regular use of this herb. The anti-bacterial properties found here further speed up treatment and also help with skin infections.

The Saraca indica herb possesses numerous benefits in addition to those listed above to promote good health without any harmful side-effects.

It would be very appropriate to end this blog with the following piece of revelation.

Title of the recently published stuy is: “Restorative Effects of Saraca Indica Methanolic Bark Extract on Levonorgestrel Affected Reproductive Cycle and Hormone Levels in Female Albino Rats.”

From the present study, it may be assessed that Saraca indica bark extract has its  potency to restore the alterations in cyclicity and reproductive hormone level caused by this synthetic contraceptive.

No wonder that the Sandu product Ashoka Compound comes with multifarous benefits restoring scintillating female reproductive health!!

Keeping up with this fast-paced world can leave a lot of individuals stressed and anxious. Young or old, everyone seems to be constantly racing to reach new heights, achieve more and do everything at once. While some of this drive is great to push one to succeed, too much of it can leave one extremely anxious.

Here, it is important to note that stress in short bursts is actually good for the body. Our ancestors used this body response to ward off danger and stay alive. A little bit of anxiety before an important meeting or exam can help keep you sharp and alert, allowing you to do your best.

However, when stress and anxiety become chronic, as we are going through this phase of PANDEMIC LOCKDOWNS and all other related stresses, the harmful effects set-in. This not only affects your physical health, but your emotional and psychological health too. The Arjuna was under tremendous stress when he faced his near n dears during Mahabharata war. Stress affected his decision making ability negatively. Ayurveda also categorically states that “विषादो रोगवर्धनानां (अग्र्यः)”, the depression is the  leader of disease aggravators. And that is very true as:

Negative consequences of chronic stress and anxiety include:

  • Muscle pain
  • Tension headaches
  • Acid reflux
  • Gastrointestinal concerns, IBS etc
  • Stomach ulcers
  • Acne and skin ailments
  • Hair loss
  • Decreased appetite
  • Chest pains
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Problems with memory and attention
  • Weakened immune system

The last one, weakened immune system, is very bad consequence of  chronic stress and anxiety. It does increase the susceptibility to disease conditions; severity of the disease is more and recovery is slow or in unfortunate situations patients may succumb to the fatal disease. Consuming anti-anxiety and stress related medicines is not the solution. Because these medicines are often loaded with toxic chemicals that can seriously harm the individual in the long run. Further, initially these medicines may offer short-term relief, but over time they can become habitual and a dependent crutch for a lot of individuals.

Be sans stress with herbs

Instead, one can find the answers for these stressful times in nature itself. Several herbs have been used since ancient times to calm the body and combat stress without any chemicals or side-effects. In addition, these herbs help relax the nerves internally thus reducing stress and anxiety naturally.

Some of the best herbs to combat stress and anxiety are:

Brahmi: An herb with multiple benefits, Brahmi  is a potent nerve tonic that supports healthy nerves for optimum functioning. It boosts relaxation in the mind and promotes healthy brain cells to avoid degeneration due to stress. It also helps strengthen memory, concentration and other cognitive functions while promoting emotional health.

Jyotishmati: Used since ancient times, this powerful herb works wonders to fight stress and its negative effects. A nerve stimulant and anti-depressant, this herb is widely used to treat stress and anxiety concerns. In addition, it also helps alleviate tension headaches, muscle pain, cognitive degeneration and gastrointestinal concerns that are often the consequences of a highly stressed life.

Shankhapushpi: Cognitive degeneration and an unhealthy mental state can also be caused due to poor circulation in the body. Shankhapushpi combats this by promoting healthy circulation of blood and oxygen to the brain, boosting memory and concentration and supporting the nervous system. In addition, this herb also promotes healthy sleep which is essential to fight anxiety and stress.

These herbs, while beneficial, are not always easy to obtain. In addition, consuming them in the right ratio is critical for maximum effectiveness without overloading the body. SANDU’s STRESAN takes care of all these concerns by combining these processed herbs with complementary elements for the perfectly balanced herbal supplement for good mental and emotional health. This natural supplement helps alleviate stress and anxiety while combating its consequences naturally and without harmful side-effects.

Tips for a stress-free life

Meditate: Take a few minutes out of your daily life to sit and meditate. Focus on your breathing or put on some soothing sounds or chants to help relax your mind and keep your stress at bay.

Reduce alcohol and sugar: Binging on sugar or alcohol may seem attractive when you are stressed but can actually worsen your health. Instead, snack on seasonal fruits and switch to herbal teas.

Stress-free state is responsible for strong immune system. One remains disease free and is able to resist the microbes attacking our body.

Staying without any stress is the COVID APPROPRIATE behaviour.

Arjuna Eyes the Endothelium and Not the Eye of the Bird!!

Arjuna Eyes the Endothelium and Not the Eye of the Bird!!

Well, this Arjuna is not the Arjuna of Mahabharata, who said, “I can only see the eye of the bird.” Here, Arjuna is the medicinal plant, which is widely known as cardioprotective herb or heart medicine. Acharya Charak and other seers identify Terminalia arjuna as the best amongst the Cardioprotectives.

Modern sciences have identified the endothelium as the main target for effective CARDIOPROTECTION!  Endothelium is  the innermost lining of the blood vessels, arteries. The  endothelium is body's largest endocrine organ. This vessel lining is 5 times the size of the heart in mass and 6 times the size of a tennis court in area. Keeping the endothelium in sound health is the sole objective of any cardioprotective treatment.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. Atherosclerosis, the hardening of the blood vessels, is the main pathological factor in the causation of the heart diseases. Atherosclerosis is a complex process in which fats accumulate in the large arteries. Over time, the arteries become thick and hard, which makes heart diseases more likely. It is interesting to know that atherosclerosis is mentioned in ancient Ayurvedic texts; धमनीप्रतिचय (dhamanipratichaya) is the Sanskrit word for atherosclerosis. The remains of ancient human populations, mummies also prove the presence of atherosclerosis in ancient times.

The vessel wall is an active, integrated organ composed of three separate layers: intima, media and adventitia. The endothelial cells are very specialized, metabolically active cells and not only guard  the internal surface of blood vessels but also are responsible for regulation of blood flow to critical organs, called as brain, heart and kidneys, the त्रिमर्म of Ayurveda.

In fact, the normal vascular endothelium is taken as a gatekeeper of cardiovascular health! It plays very critical role in maintenance of  cardiovascular health by regulating blood fluidity and fibrinolysis, vascular tone, angiogenesis, monocyte/leukocyte adhesion, and platelet aggregation.

The disturbed endothelium, endothelial dysfunction,  results in hardening of the blood vasculature which further leads to hypertension, dyslipidemia, inflammation and thrombosis. These abnormalities result in generation of excessive free radicals causing oxidative stress (OS), this OS further damages the endothelium and the vicious cycle continues, as shown in the diagram.

To break this vicious cycle, the WHO recommends certain Lifestyle Modifications  to prevent heart diseases, for example regular physical exercise, not eating too much food, moderate use of fat, sugar and salt in food. The aim of these lifestyle modifications is  to improve endothelial function.

There are number of modern published scientific articles on cardioprotective nature of Terminalia arjuna. Arjuna does have  a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant action and reverses impaired endothelial function. It prevents LDL cholesterol oxidation and reduces  atherogenic lipid levels. It also improves cardiovascular health by controlling the  autonomic nervous function. This herbal drug with multiple beneficial effects without causing side effects can modulate the existing treatment strategies.

Visionary seers called Arjuna as the leader of हृद्य, CARDIOPROTECTIVE medicines!!  Arjuna achieves स्रोतसां प्रसादनम् (healthy endothelium)and therefore, it is the best cardioprotective.

Sandu Products containing Arjuna are: Arjunarishta, Balant Kadha No 3, Ashwagandharishta, and Tab Debix.

Ashwagandha: Continues to add Feathers to its Loaded Cap

Continues to add Feathers to its Loaded Cap

Ayurveda and Ashwagandha alliterate well. No wonder Ashwagandha enjoys its pride of place in Ayurveda. Used by the native populations since time immemorial, it is reputed for its restorative powers. Ashwagandha literally means “the smell of a horse.” It is supposed to impart the vigour and strength of a stallion and has been traditionally prescribed to help people strengthen their immune system post-illness. It is often referred to as “Indian ginseng” because of its rejuvenating properties (although botanically, ginseng and Ashwagandha are unrelated). In addition, Ashwagandha is also used to enhance sexual potency in both men and women.

Belonging to the same family as the tomato, Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a plump shrub with oval leaves and yellow flowers. It bears red berries about the size of a grape. Its specific name somnifera, also tells us something about its sleep-inducing, relaxing and calming properties that boosts energy by seeding deeper rest. The herb is native to the dry regions of India, northern Africa, and the Middle East, but today is also grown in more mild climates, including in the United States.

The scientific literature on Ashwagandha mentions the following benefits:

·         Supports sustained energy levels, strength and vitality including physical activity.

·         Reduces anxiety and depression without causing drowsiness

·         Improves learning, memory and reaction time

·         Confers immune system protection

·         Offers anti-inflammatory benefits

·         Reduces brain-cell degeneration

·         Promotes respiratory health

·         Combats the effects of stress

·         Stabilizes blood sugar

·         Has rejuvenative nature

Yet another research throws light on the role of Ashwagandha in the management of COVID-19 . In  a particular study, it was   observed that men with symptomatic COVID-19, with low testosterone, were more likely to become severely ill and die from the   disease. This study was  carried out in Milan during the first wave of coronavirus in 2020 and the findings were presented at the   European Association of Urology congress, EAU21,  July 8-12.2021. It is widely known that Ashwagandha boosts testosterone levels,   and therefore, it is highly recommended in the treatment of COVID-19.

In nutshell, Ashwagandha is: बल्या रसायनी तिक्ता क्षयापहातिशुक्रला !!

Sandu Offers the Ashwagandha advantage in many products including Stresan, Vimfix, Shishuvin, Sandu Ashwagandharishta, Sandu Makarprash, Sandu Saraswatarishta, etc.

Ayurveda Is Here to Stay Forever!!

Did our ancient seers know that Ayurveda will be  “talk of the world” in 2021? The answer is surely, a resounding yes!! Our ancient seers very confidently talked about ever-modern nature  of Ayurveda. The ancient seers were very confident about the soundness of the principles of Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, the human body is a miniature universe! The concept of TRIDOSHA, i.e. of  Vata, Pitta and Kapha, which are the functional elements of the body, is based on the Wind, the Sun, and the Moon respectively! Eternal nature of the Wind, the Sun and the Moon  ensures the eternity  of Ayurveda!! According to Ayurveda, strong defence system is the strong and sound balance of Tridosha, the functional elements of the body.

For millennia, Ayurveda evolved through a process of scientific enquiry involving communities and societies. The scientific knowledge was created by an interchange of information between patients, physicians and researchers. Teachers would pass their wisdom, updated with this scientific inquiry and application of their own learnings to their students in an interactive manner, through what was called as the Guru-Shishya tradition.  There are no limitations to the knowledge of Ayurveda, continuous growth is its nature. Also, there is no limit for knowing the Science of Ayurveda. Various Tadvidya Sambhasha, Scientific conferences are described in Charaka Samhita, the ancient book of Ayurveda.

We realize the importance of Ayurveda, when we hear about the Nobel Prizes in Medicine or Physiology awarded in the current decade. From 2015 to 2020, all Nobel Prizes, confirm the authenticity of some or other basic Ayurveda principle, be it of fasting or Circadian Rhythm!

Globally, the world is in favour of Ayurveda, the most ancient Health Science now enjoys unprecedented world patronage. We should strive the most so that Ayurveda gets its rightful place as a mainstream medicinal system.

Our beloved Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said, ‘Ayurveda could rightly be described as a holistic human science. The current situation presents a right time for traditional medicine to become even more popular globally’, while inaugurating the fourth edition of the Global Ayurveda Festival 2021. Here, he was referring to the current situation of CORONA pandemic. Corona pandemic has underlined the importance of strong defense mechanisms, strong immunity.

It is necessary that scientific communities reach out to Translational Knowledge Systems available locally. Let us all work towards our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of 'Vocal for local should become mantra for every Indian!!
By being vocal about Ayurveda, we make it “GLOBAL”, the rightful status it deserves.

Panchakarma is a Sanskrit word that means “five actions” or “five treatments”. This is a process used to clean the body of toxic materials left by disease, poor nutrition, and environmental toxins.

The word "ayurveda" is Sanskrit: आयुर्वेद, Ayurveda, meaning knowledge of life and longevity. The central theoretical ideas of Ayurveda developed in the mid-first millennium BCE, and show parallels with Sa?khya and Vaise?ika philosophies, as well as with Buddhism and Jainism.
